Home shows are a great way to see the latest home products and trends. If you are thinking about remodeling or renovating, home shows are an excellent starting point where you can meet prospective contractors and gain insight into how they work and communicate. You’ll get ideas, options, and insight into all of the latest home improvement needs. With spring remodeling season around the corner, here is how to get the most out of a home show!
Go With A List
In many home shows, there are hundreds of vendors and booths, aisle after aisle. For time well spent, go with a list of products and services that you want to investigate. Look at the floor plan and circle the booths that have the products and services you are seeking. Start your tour where the most booths are that have products you want to see. Write down a list of questions you want to ask each vendor about the products or services they offer.
After you’ve spent an entire day roaming a home show, you will likely be challenged to remember who said what. So, take pictures of the booth, the staff you spoke with, and their business card. This will put everything in chronological order and provide you all the information you need to follow up. Taking pictures of the staff and booth are important to help you remember who they were and what they offered.
Measure Before You Go
When you find that perfect handcrafted table for the niche in the hallway, you will want to make sure it is going to fit. So, take a measuring tape with you and dimensions for any specific items you are seeking. Or, take a photo of the space you are looking to fill and measure it before you go. You can often find handmade unique furniture items of this type at home shows, but returns are usually not easy, so make sure you know and measure before you go!
