Part 3: Appliances
Kitchen appliances are one of the most important elements in a kitchen redesign. Choosing the right appliances will impact the way you use your kitchen for years to come. You will need to consider your budget for appliances, how to incorporate them into the overall design, and which features may be worth the upgrade. Stainless steel finishes are always a homerun.
The refrigerator will be the most used appliance in any kitchen. There is nothing worse than choosing a refrigerator based on the size of the space rather than the size of your family and your lifestyle. So, before you finalize the overall kitchen design, make sure you and your kitchen designer have discussed your family’s needs and your lifestyle to ensure that your refrigerator will provide adequate storage. If you entertain a lot, this is another factor that will impact how you will use the refrigerator for years to come!
When you can cook while facing the guests, you create an engaging experience. So, many opt for a cooktop in the island versus on a wall. Gas is usually the preferred option for most chefs. Don’t forget to incorporate downdraft ventilation if you go this route. For a safer cooking environment, you can opt for an induction cooktop, which only heats up the surfaces that come in contact with metal, providing a flame-free environment.
Ranges & Ovens
When it comes to ranges and ovens, the options are endless. Some options include dual-fuel, standard vs. convection, one oven or two, and so on. If your kitchen is used for family gatherings or entertaining, you may want to incorporate a warming drawer.
