Many of today’s homeowners have pools, but not many take advantage of cabanas. If you have the room to build a cabana, it can add creativity and sophistication to your pool area. There are as many design ideas for cabanas as there are pool designs. Parker Design | Build | Remodel, has gathered some of our favorite cabana design ideas that we hope will inspire you.
Tropical Pastel Cabana
Cabanas are ideal for spring pool parties or Victorian garden teas. Use petite wicker furniture with cushions in pastel colors such as blush pink, mint green, or lavender. Add hanging plants in brighter shades of the same colors, or in complementary colors. For a more modern touch, you can hang tea lights or lanterns from the roof of the cabana, which look especially inviting on pool party nights.
If your home has plenty of space, consider expanding your cabana into its own outdoor room. Once the expansion is complete, you can add features that evoke a traditional camping trip, such as an outdoor fireplace. These come in many sizes and can accommodate whatever space you have. You can also use furniture in dark woods such as oak or mahogany to evoke the forest.
Hawaiian Getaway Cabana
If you can’t travel to Hawaii, your cabana can still make you feel like you’re soaking in the rays on the Big Island. Start with small touches such as furniture upholstery in ocean blue, sea foam green, and coral pink. Look for wicker and teak to complete the look. Then, focus on the island décor. Use large hanging plants as a nod to island flora; orchids are a great choice if you live in the proper climate for them. If your cabana has a glass-topped table, consider placing sand, shells, or sand dollars under the top. Hang sea glass and twinkle lights for final touches, or set out a few tiki torches.
Southwest Observatory Cabana
This design is perfect if your home has Southwest-style architecture. Make your cabana match using adobe and traditional Southwestern hues such as coral and turquoise.
Does your family love sports and watching the big game? If so, it’s possible to bring that enjoyment outdoors to your cabana. Start with an outdoor grill and granite counters. Add dark wood furniture and comfortable seating. Then, with a professional’s help, you can install an outdoor flat-screen television for optimum game viewing.
